The Librarians are well aware that Real Person Fiction (RPF) does not appeal to all readers of fan fiction. The first time Frank says Claire’s married name, he calls her “Mrs. Frank Randall.” He just totally erased her identity in a few words.
The first time Jamie says Claire’s married name, he calls her “Claire Fraser.” Even though they’re in this insane situation, and so much of her choice is being taken away from her, he still gives her the dignity of calling her by HER name, not his.
That’s a total clanger for certain. Even though up till quite recently it was customary for married women to be referred to by their husband’s name, Jamie accords Claire with her individuality even though she’s now ‘Claire Fraser.’
I will have the pleasure of introducing them to Mrs. Frank Randall.
