Cindy: Hey… can I be a Jew?

Rabbi: No.

Cindy: Can I be a Jew?

Rabbi: No.

Cindy: Can I be a Jew?

Rabbi: You really want this? Sincerely? Not ‘cause this one’s trying to blackmail me for something stupid when I was 19 or for broccoli with your dinner? What is this for you?

Cindy: Honestly, I think I found my people. I was raised in a church where I was told to believe and pray. And if I was bad, I’d go to hell. And if I was good, I’d go to heaven. And if I’d ask Jesus, he’d forgive me and that was that. And here y’all are sayin’ ain’t no hell. Ain’t sure about heaven. And if you do something wrong, you got to figure it out yourself. And as far as God’s concerned, it’s your job to keep asking questions and to keep learning and to keep arguing. It’s like a verb. It’s like … you do God. And that’s a lot of work, but I think I’m in, as least as far as I can see it. I mean, maybe I’ll learn more and say fuck the whole thing, I mean, but I wanna learn more, and I think I gotta be in it to do that. You know… Does that make sense? Shit, did I just talk myself out of it?

Rabbi: Ask me again.

Cindy: Can I be a Jew?

Rabbi: Yes.

I cried so hard during this scene.

First of all, this is beautiful.

Second of all, as a contextual note, the rabbi said no for a reason. In Jewish conversion, one of the steps is that you must be discouraged at least three times. This comes from the story of Ruth, where Naomi told her not to follow her back to the Jewish tribe three times before giving in.

Third of all, this is beautiful.

Adrienne KILLED it in those scenes. I wept with her!

“It’s like a verb.” She wants to work on her faith continuously and that was gorgeous and so honest.

THIS WAS SO IMPORTANT DO U UNDERSTAND. We aren’t a people who actively convert people. You’ll never see a Jewish person try to convert you. We believe in everyone’s right to believe what they want. But it was so nice to see someone who wasn’t raised in it be able to see value in my faith. I have never seen anything like that on tv before

bringing this back, because it delights me.

Don’t you ever get angry with them cb4tb? Right now I’m pretty frustrated and wonder why I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt. I can’t understand if they are with this other people then why does Sam still allow the games and innuendo with this person to continue? It is starting to look nasty and very cheap and I thought Sam was above that. This is not a nice look for any of the 4 players involved at this point and I don’t understand their PR people. At all.

Right now is the troll’s PR at work, IMO.   I’m sure her agent said to her that it’s pilot season and he actually wants to be paid this time around (they get a percentage of each job) so it’s time to:

  • Get new headshots
  • Get your TV/Filmography out there in a way that guarantees hit and people talking about you (Publicist offers up that Marie Claire runs Outlander articles so we’ll just explain away the four months of nothing with the ever-popular on again/off again all-purpose spin)
  • Agent also says, get your damn numbers up-the innuendo seemed to have worked for months, got anything you could use?

Insulting my intelligence always makes my blood boil  So, yes that part of the situation is a combination of eye-rolling and annoyed.

The rest of it?  If we are to believe the grapefruit that Cait wants us to, then the benefit of the doubt will need to be re-earned.  But at the same time, I know how bad the industry is and how, as Sam put it so succinctly last year, everything is controlled.  And I still find it telling that he referenced getting sacked was his biggest fear, twice.  And Cait seems to have conducted rebellion via scissors, twice.

Angry at them?  I am not angry, that’s seems too strong of a word for people I don’t know.  I vacillate between being supremely annoyed and occasionally worried.  Because if the grapefruit is a mango, I can’t imagine what their lives are like.

But I’ll always be disgusted with trolls.

I’m just wondering at this point what would make you all happy? Like if they were each more open with their SOs you guys would call it PR. If they are more chill you either don’t believe she was really there or say it’s “fuckery”. I feel like ppl need to accept that M/T are a possible reality. And it sucks and we don’t get it, but at the end of the day that’s ok we don’t have to get it bc we aren’t in the relationships.

There will always be people complaining. No matter how perfect something is, there will be at least one person that says “this sucks.” I’ve heard it about Hamilton, Game of Thrones, the Harry Potter books, Helen Mirren’s acting…

You get the idea.

So, what would make us as a collective happy? Nothing, because that’s an impossible task. We all came here because OL and SC’s relationship felt magical and we wanted to celebrate them. Not only did hearts collectively break after the IFH, SC and many members of production felt it necessary to call fans who believed in SC delusional, and not just once, but many times over the years. Some old sci-fi icon decided to join in the pile-on, too. That’s called “adding insult to injury.”

IF they hadn’t mocked fans, acted like just friends, and put the kibosh on “are you dating your co-star?” questions, people would have been sad, but they wouldn’t have been angry. They chose the wrong fork in the road and now you have a group of women that are 1. pissed, and 2. curious to see this entire thing go nuclear.

The community of bright and hilarious ladies is why I stick around. I’m even forcing myself through A Discovery of Witches so I can have something new to talk about with everyone here – the Shamzie/Tait cycle of rinse, wash, and repeat is pretty boring at this point, even if you believe they’re real.
