PSA

It boggles my mind when productive discussion and/or criticism of OL is rebranded as “negative” and “toxic.”

It boggles my mind when productive discussion and/or criticism of OL actor’s SM/PR is rebranded as “hate” or “mischaracterization.”

It boggles my mind when productive discussion and/or criticism of a particular OL actor is rebranded as “internalized misogyny.”

It boggles my mind when fans undermine their power as consumers (for fear of being labelled ‘bad fans’) who are entitled to share their opinions about the product they are paying for.

The only aspect that isn’t mind boggling is that the tunnel vision of some in this fandom – insisting all is great with OL, nothing has changed, we should be grateful we are still getting J/C moments, it’s alright if there is less intimacy (to justify whatever theory is at work), the lead actors work so hard so they have to be immune from criticism – has produced the very toxic environment that is blamed on those who engage in productive, challenging, and necessary discussion of the show they still care about.

“That was a stunningly beautiful scene,” Rob agrees. “Sam Heughan, you are one of the best actors on television, and you do not get enough credit,” he declares.

“I loved it,” Paula agrees. “He finally gets to see her, she’s within arms reach and he can hug her. It gave me the warm and fuzzies.”

i don’t really understand why you would be pro-zoo. like i understand nature reserves and sanctuaries where people can observe from afar, but it doesn’t seem right to me when they’re locked up in generally small confined areas for people to watch them do nothing all day. idk maybe i’m getting this wrong, and i still really respect you, i just don’t understand this. like i interned at a zoo and felt uncomfortable with how small their living areas were and how they had no stimulation

Zoos don’t look like this anymore.

They look like this:

Good zoos do not keep their animals in “tiny spaces” with no enrichment.  I’m not pro-roadside zoo.  I’m pro-accredited zoo.  Zoos are incredibly important for conservation and education.
