Among all S4 characters Claire got screwed the most in terms of screen time, story & dialogue. She was given almost nothing to work with as most dialogue was so scarce & bad to almost deem her mute & nonexistent. It’s like someone decided they didn’t need Claire in S4, took a sledgehammer & axe and totally butchered her character. And boy does S4 feel empty without her! No matter how much or how long Jamie is on screen Outlander isn’t as good without Claire. She’s the glue that holds it together

I mean, nonnie, people will probably disagree with some of this but I personally agree with you. I actually rewatched a few episodes of season 1 yesterday and my god, the striking difference.

I get it, I read the books, don’t come at me people. Drums isn’t centred around Claire like Outlander was but still, she’s an important part of it and I found myself more interested in the episodes, well episode, like “Savages” where she had well-rounded storyline and actually more than two sentences to say. I also loved the whole LJG shutdown in episode 6. As for the rest, I quite frankly can’t even remember what happened this season for most of it, so…

Again, I think it’s different for everyone but personally, what pulled me immediately in when I started watching the show, was Claire. I had no idea who Jamie was or what the story was going to be like so she was the one thing that hooked me and also, that kept me on since then. I loved her voice, I loved her character, her look, I loved everything and still do. But it’s so different this season and yes, it’s a different Claire, yadi yada but doesn’t mean I’m not missing “the old” one that has been fucked up, in my opinion, by editors (we’ve seen the scripts) and writers. Big fucking time.

Also, Good god, I miss the voiceovers so much.

He was falling in and out of consciousness.  His head was throbbing, enough to make him want to vomit.  By the smell in the room, he already had.

He registered another scent.

His blood.

His thigh was numb where it had been slashed, covered in congealed red matter, his trousers stuck to his skin.  His dislocated shoulder was on fire from being dragged, belt tied around his wrists. He tried to take a breath but the pain was like lightning striking his side, stealing the oxygen from his lungs.

He struggled to stay awake before the world went dark again.

“Some people turn sad awfully young. No special reason, it seems, but they seem almost to be born that way. They bruise easier, tire faster, cry quicker, remember longer, and, as I say, get sadder younger than anyone else in the world. I know, for I’m one of them.”
