I’m assuming this is the part you mean: “The fact that no-date clauses are a thing in some contracts, as well as knowing how powerful some executives are and how far-reaching their influence can be, (or at least, how far we’re told it is. which is bs and a post for another day) is a whole other element to it all.”
*******************************************
Without going in to too many specifics because it would take all day and I’d still miss a bunch, there are a lot of ways we get it beat in to us that if we piss off the wrong person/people “you’ll never work in this town again.”
It sounds like a bad movie line, right?
Alas, art imitates life.
Do I know if it’s true? It’s hard to say, but there are a small group of ultra-wealthy people who run Hollywood, so I suppose it could be. Less today with the increase in creators, netflix, hulu, the list goes on, but it’s still far fewer people than you’d think in charge of it all.
(Putting a cut in here because this got longer than I’d planned)
